Syd Hoff

When you are a parent you have to read a lot to your children and it's great. But sometimes you get tired of it and hate it because you can't stand the books you are reading. You avoid the stupid, poorly illustrated or poorly written books, or the lengthy books. They are lame, and your children want to read them over and over and over and you are sick of it!

Well, let me introduce you to one of my favorite children's authors, Syd Hoff. I LOVE HIS BOOKS! They are hilarious. I think he wrote his books to entertain the adult reading to the child. His books are quick reads. They are so delightful. And classic. I don't get tired of them. We read them over and over and over and I'm a mom that enjoys reading to her children. Taylor and McKay love him too.

Sarah,

I do remember Marcia. I checked out her blog . . . and I need to comment and say hello.

Glad to hear that you are returning to CA! Can't wait to see you!

Sarah,
I'm the niece of Syd Hoff and read your blog about Sammy the Seal (I have a google alert for Syd).

Delighted to hear you and your children enjoy his books. I want you to know I'm in the process of developing the most comprehensive website honoring his creative contribution to the world as a children's author, cartoonist and much more. The website is www.SydHoff.org (under construction), however so info about Syd is already on my website at www.SacredDoodles.com.
PS. Danny and the Dinosaur will be re-released in 2008 for it's 50th anniversary. Stay tuned!. Carol

We LOVE Syd!! I get he books all the time from the library. Oh and.... are you still planning on being in TX around the end of October? We are taking a long detour on the way to SD to visit my family in Fort Worth. We should hang out!

I would have never thought you would be the mom that hated reading the kid books, I always saw you as the one looking forward to it more than your kids. And it looks like you found an author where that is true! When Makenzie gets to reading I will have to get all those books, thanks for the tip

Syd Hoff....I'll have to check out his books. I love that you said they are "quick reads" and "delightful" there's nothing I love better than a quick but entertaining book! My kids LOVE stories before bed.

It was sooo FUN to see that you had visited my blog! Yep, three kidos...crazy BUSY kids. I'm sure you know what it's all about! Ezra is 4, Mara is 2 and the baby was born March 28th. I can't imagine my life with out them. Good Luck on your move!:)

I'll have to check those books out. I'm always looking for good children's books. I also really love Kevin Henkes. He's created very fun characters. Some of them are a little long, but my kids love them. Rosemary Wells is also a favorite.
